Talega Golf
The 18-hole Fred Couples "Signature" golf course is just minutes from Talega's entry. The course winds through and past a variety of challenging terrain including a rugged marsh, a series of lakes and an oak-filled canyon. Along the way, golfers enjoy spectacular views of the San Clemente hills.
The Talega Golf Club is noted as the best daily fee Orange County golf course. It offers golfers of all abilities an enjoyable round with four tee boxes to choose from and total yardages ranging from 6951 yards down to 5569 yards. And no matter what you shoot, you can always retreat to the magnificent clubhouse for fine dining in the relaxed but elegant atmosphere of the Heritage Grille.
Co-designed by noted golf course architect Brian Curley of Schmidt-Curley Design, Inc., the Talega Golf Club was nominated "Best New Public Course" for 2001 by Golf Digest. It is owned and managed by the Heritage Golf Group whose holdings include several top quality golf facilities across the country.
The front nine of the Talega Golf Club features lush fairways and beautifully manicured fairways and greens. Golfers will also find several forced carries over elevation breaks, plenty of water hazards and numerous bunkers filled with the same finely grained marble sand that is used at Augusta National. Signature holes on the front nine include the 553-yard, par-5 #6 with a stream running along the right side of the hole into a lake that guards the green, and the 157-yard, par-3 #8.
The back nine features rolling terrain and panoramic views of the mountain and valleys, giving the latter nine a canyon or desert style design. The most difficult hole on the course is the 461-yard 16th, which starts with a long tee shot over a canyon. GPS-equipped golf carts give players an accurate way to measure the distance from the ball to the hole, enabling them to select just the right club. The Talega Golf Club also features a large putting and chipping green is located next to the first tee. Without a doubt, this is a challenging Orange County Golf course and one you can enjoy often as a Mirador at Talega homeowner.
